I finally posted my third “cult of digital aura” post! This one explores how our need to construct identity changes the way we think about authenticity in art – we judge the art’s use value to build our own aura.
I worked very hard to keep this to 2000 words and would love if you read it!

Baked sourdough buttermilk biscuits actually at 450F now that I have an oven thermometer (set the oven to 495 to get to 450). Added 1Tbsp sugar, used dip and sweep flour. Maxes out my food processor. Baked 13 minutes, 12 would have been ok. Made 11.5 biscuits.
I stopped eating meat in 2006, but for a handful of occasions (9 times that I can recall). Corned beef is the last meat dish I ate (I think in 2015) and the only meat dish I miss at all anymore. (These days bacon smells gross 😂)
Dreaming of making my house nicer in today’s library haul 📚 (Looking like we need a new roof 💸 so will remain a dream 😂)
Baked sourdough biscuits – subbed milk with a scoop of Greek yogurt and a tablespoon of vinegar for the buttermilk, and added 1 Tbsp sugar. Dough was sticky and needed some extra flour. Made 10.5 biscuits, baked 16 minutes. Delish with butter and honey 🍯

📚 Decided to take through the end of the year as “vacation” (I’m self-employed) so I got a bunch of fun books from the library!
baked sourdough banana bread – subbed Greek yogurt – took about 80 minutes to bake in my oven despite starting with 5 minutes at 425F – quite moist, would eat again

Anyone seen any reporting on REI’s new board appointees? Sounds like they changed the bylaws after members rejected their candidates in spring and appointed their own candidates for 3 year terms… Trying to decide how pissed I should be 😂 Sus that they announced in a Friday 3pm Pacific email 👀
My frugal greeting card hack: for anyone I think might possibly reuse it (and won’t be offended), I write their note on a post-it or nice piece of cardstock instead of directly on the card 💌 Received this card from my mom, sending to my childhood best friend 😄 Cards are $$$ yo!

Good mail day! 💌📕 Hemlock and Silver by T. Kingfisher and Astronaut II by Scott Listfield, one of my fav painters.
Had a bunch of overripe bananas so I baked sourdough banana nut muffins. Baked 25 minutes. Suspect you could make 2-3 more muffins if you didn’t want big tops. Tested two toppings: chopped nuts and a whole walnut with turbinado sugar – I like the sugar crunch but might be too sweet.
