Halloween setup π We skipped giving out candy the last two years but this year we’re doing the honor system - as cute as the costumes are, I don’t really want to interact with 100 germy little kids π
This week I randomly decided I want to be more ambidextrous, so I’ve switched my mouse to my left hand. I’ve got the buttons down but definitely working on that fine motor control for putting the cursor in the right spot π Interesting but probably a short-lived experiment π€·ββοΈ
So happy it finally feels like fall! Rain, colorful leaves, bedtime tea, down vests and SCARVES! π₯°
Two years ago today we flew down to LA for an awesome vacation - hit the beach and the Getty Villa. Still not sure when I’ll get on a plane next π€·ββοΈ Our timing was perfect - another week and we might not have gone since Kirkland had the first (known) outbreak in the US.
Ordered myself a stack of favorite albums on CD to listen to in the car π΅ My husband says I’m just being nostalgic, we’ll see. Starting off with the annoyance of unwrapping the shrink wrap π (Cue car stereo dying in 3, 2, 1…)
Been thinking about my listening habits and music library lately and was curious how many CDs I have left: 36. All of Abney Park, most of Islands, and a handful of other stuff ππ΅
My friend surprised me with a just because present, a print that harmonizes nicely with the art on the wall - and I had an extra frame in the right size!
Funny enough, I dropped off a just because gift at her house the same day π

Survived our mini backpacking trip! We had a perfect sunny afternoon, and woke up to a spattering of rain and lovely fall mist. Discovered my sleeping pad has a bad leak at 10:30 last night, so it was a colder night on harder ground than planned ππ Very sore today!
Tomorrow’s mini adventure: teaching two gals how to backpack. Late in the season but forecast is good! We’re doing a cheater skills intro, setting up camp close to the car so I can offload tent etc to put less weight on my bum knee before we take a hike. Now 29lb without water.
Pumpkin patch with some friends this morning! Nice foggy ambience when we got there but it burned off to a warm sunny day. Got a cinderella pumpkin and one of those lumpy pastel pink ones ππ
After getting off screens 2 hours before bed, I’ve been revisiting albums I loved in high school/college, but haven’t listened to much since π΅ Seeing if I hear them differently with 15 more years of musical exposure. I’m realizing I’ve listened widely but not in an educated way π€
Did a lunch date in Ballard yesterday, with a stop at the locks and Golden Gardens. Saw an osprey chilling in a tree, salmon swimming up the locks, and seal/sea lion hunting them.
Did an awesome local date afternoon with DH - went to a new-to-us waterfront park for a dinner picnic, walked to see the biggest tree in King County (600yo “Sylvia,” 26.3’ circumference, topped in a windstorm in 1993), and cones at Salt & Strawπ¦
Second crop from my mushroom kit! First crop was accidental - I wasn’t ready to start it yet so threw it in a closet still sealed…but life, uhh, finds a way π
Been joining in with the Indie Web lately, and am noodling on a mascot. Two ideas have come to the top: mushrooms and honeybees. Wrote up some thoughts and am soliciting votes ;) indieweb.org/mascot
Playing Masks tonight for the first time, being a Batman knockoff with evil parents. I’ve only played DnD and one other system, curious how well I’ll pick up the rules since I still don’t know them in DnD after a year and a half π Picrew
