My frugal greeting card hack: for anyone I think might possibly reuse it (and won’t be offended), I write their note on a post-it or nice piece of cardstock instead of directly on the card 💌 Received this card from my mom, sending to my childhood best friend 😄 Cards are $$$ yo!

Good mail day! 💌📕 Hemlock and Silver by T. Kingfisher and Astronaut II by Scott Listfield, one of my fav painters.
Had a bunch of overripe bananas so I baked sourdough banana nut muffins. Baked 25 minutes. Suspect you could make 2-3 more muffins if you didn’t want big tops. Tested two toppings: chopped nuts and a whole walnut with turbinado sugar – I like the sugar crunch but might be too sweet.

Finally published a long blog post I’ve been working on for weeks! I dug into the values embedded in generative AI and the aesthetics of what I’m calling the “Business Borg” 😄 I also picked out accompanying indie tunes (gauging “obscurity” by fewer than 200k views on YouTube, mostly much less) 🎶

Baked cinnamon sugar sourdough scones. Tasted good, not sure why they spread so much 🤷♀️ Added 1T buttermilk, baked 18 minutes.
📚 Fiction + comic roundup: discovered my library has an adult graphic novel section, I thought they were all under 741.5 😱 Asked the librarian where they were and she was like 😶 ??? we just moved them, and I don’t remember where! 😅

Baked lemon blueberry loaf cake – used butter and cow milk. Cut the sugar in the cake to ¾ cup, seems fine. Rubbed the zest into the sugar first. I think half a batch of glaze would suffice (see puddle). Dried the blueberries before coating in flour and they didn’t all sink! 🙌 Baked 75 minutes.

Baked buttermilk spice muffins. Usually I can get away with going shy on the sugar but I missed the tablespoon or two I shorted in the batter 🤷♀️ Baked 20 minutes, should have pulled it a min earlier, a touch on the dry side. (Batter also seemed dry so I added 1Tbsp buttermilk, maybe shouldn’t have.)
Baked snickerdoodle blondies 👍 Quite sweet but very tasty with good texture. I subbed butterscotch chips because I dislike white chocolate. Baked a bit over 40 minutes. Yeah we each scarfed three pieces while still warm 😂 Could probably skip the mildly annoying inner cinnamon sugar layer?

Baked orange cranberry sourdough scones 👍 Half gone before I remembered a photo 😉 I did a cream wash instead of egg wash for the turbinado sugar topping.

Brunch! Avocado toast with mushrooms, sauteed cabbage, sweet potatoes and arugula salad - inspiration (though it took me a lot longer than 20 minutes 😂). I never had sauteed cabbage before, but will again! I skipped the curry powder and added chile powder to the sweet potatoes.
Baked sourdough blueberry muffins to Blue Train this morning. Needed to add 6Tbsp (butter)milk to get the batter a good consistency. Tossed (frozen) blueberries in cornstarch and 1/4tsp cinnamon and folded in at the end. Baked 30 minutes. Pretty sweet, could cut the sugar by a tablespoon or two.
